Living Water
Have you ever heard of living water? Do you know what it is and how to get it? Do you know how important it is for you to drink?
As you know, water is a matter of life or death. Everything that lives on earth needs water to thrive and survive. Water is so important to life that God put within you an alarm system to help remind you of your need for water. This alarm system is called “thirst.” Thirst says, “I need water and I must have it now!”
What is true physically is also true spiritually. In the same way that you need water to have physical life, so you need living water to have spiritual life. God has also put within you a thirst for living water, and it is only by drinking living water that you can quench that thirst. Spiritual thirst is God’s gracious and loving way of letting you know how much you need Him. Spiritual thirst says, “I need God and I need Him now!”
Here are 3 important differences between water and living water—
• Water is for your physical needs; living water is for your spiritual needs.
• Water is natural; Living Water is supernatural.
• Water comes from the earth; living water comes from heaven.
Since living water is so important, you need to know where to find living water. Living water is found in a person. His name is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only one who can give you living water to drink. Jesus said these words, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." John 7:37-38
Are you thirsty? Does your heart say, “How can I satisfy the thirst I have inside me.” Jesus once said to a woman who was thirsty, “Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." John 4:14
You must drink living water to have everlasting life. How do you drink living water? You drink by faith. You drink by saying “yes” to Jesus and receiving Him. When you drink of Jesus, He will send rivers of living water into your heart. And when you do, your life will become like a tree planted by the water. You will thrive, blossom, and grow. Your life will bring forth good fruit in its season and other lives will be blessed because of the living water that is in you.
Pray this prayer: Jesus, I come to You. I drink of You. I receive You into my heart and life. Come and pour Your living water into my heart. Thank You for giving me the gift of everlasting life. Plant the tree of my life by Your waters and help me to grow, to be fruitful, and to be a blessing to others. Amen!
